The emergence of Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda as the first female Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has been described as a significant milestone in the annals of the history of Lagos legislature.
The Executive Chairman, Ijede LCDA, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo -Alogba, said this in a statement congratulating the new Speaker, following the removal of the three – term Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, for misconduct, on Monday, while he was away in the United States of America.
The motion for the Speaker’s removal was moved by Hon. Femi Saheed and seconded by Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), Ikorodu Constituency II, as well as supported by 32 members.
In the statement, Hon. Gbadebo -Alogba said:
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Rt. Hon. Speaker Meranda Mojisola Lasbat, the lawmaker representing Apapa Constituency 1, on her historic emergence as the first female Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
“Rt. Hon. Speaker Meranda has demonstrated dedication and excellence throughout her tenure as Deputy Speaker. Her elevation to this esteemed position marks a significant milestone in the history of the Lagos legislature. We are confident in her competence, vision, and commitment, to drive impactful policies in her new role.
“On behalf of the women of Ijede LCDA, I wish her a successful tenure filled with remarkable achievements. May her leadership bring continued progress and positive change to the lives of Lagosians.
